September/ October 2026 Update

I love this time of year.

The gardens, orchards and hedgerows are still giving us plenty and the sun is still showing it's face, but the pace is beginning to shift. It’s a good time to slow down, get closer to our food and make something—preferably with other people.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be cooking, fermenting, talking gut health and possibly making the odd bottle of hedgerow liqueur.

If you want to make more time for real food, find some inspiration and hang out with people who feel the same, then I'd love you to come and join me.

This Saturday: Autumn at Lynsted Kitchen Garden

It's Lynsted Kitchen Garden's open day on Saturday and everyone is invited.

I’ll be cooking a vegetable dahl using some of the beautiful produce grown in this community garden and there’ll also be activities around pickling, growing, soil health, herbs, healthy eating and wellbeing, plus activities for children.

Explore the vineyard and wildlife pond, visit the café and pick up plants and local honey.

This truly is a special place and the event is free and open to everyone. Booking is helpful if you can, and bring family and friends.

Shall we make some hedgerow liqueurs together?

Friday 25 September or Friday 2 October | Around 5.30pm
Faversham, location to be confirmed | £10 per person

Want to get a few Christmas presents in the bag while making the most of the last summer and hedgerow fruit?

I’m planning a relaxed Friday-evening session making seasonal fruit liqueurs and non-alcoholic shrubs.

Bring some fruit and a spirit or vinegar—I’ll send guidance if you need it—plus a couple of jars or wide-necked bottles if you have them.

I’ll bring flavourings, spare jars and the experience of making Coxy’s (award winning!) Liqueurs & Shrubs back in the day. Then we’ll crack on and make something delicious.

You’re equally welcome to come, learn and have a go at home afterwards.

I’m imagining somewhere we can enjoy a glass of something while we work. If that sounds like your sort of start to Friday evening click below/ reply and tell me whether 25 September or 2 October works best.

An Intro to Fermented Foods

Sunday 4 October |
Macknade, Faversham | £25

We’ve moved the date of this workshop, which means a few spaces are now available.

If you’re curious about fermented food but aren’t sure where to begin or want some more recipes in your repertoire this is a great place to start.

We’ll taste different fermented foods - like kefir, kombucha, kraut and kimchi - and explore how they’re made, how to choose them and—most importantly—how to use them in everyday meals.

You’ll also see a kraut made from scratch. I can’t guarantee you’ll leave a committed fermenter, but you will understand what’s happening inside the jar, why fermented foods are worth eating and how to get more of them onto your plate.

Beans and Lentils—join Team Bean!

Sunday 11 October |
Macknade, Faversham | £25

Beans and lentils are getting a serious image overhaul—and everyone should be on board.

If you’ve ever looked at a bag of dried soup mix—often the only lentil or grain option in a supermarket—and thought, "what do you do with that I’m with you.

These days, I’m passionate about them. Beans and lentils are colourful, delicious, versatile and one of the easiest and most affordable ways to add plants, fibre, flavour and substance to your food.

We’ll turn tins, jars and dried pulses into pancakes, dahls and pasta dishes. We’ll also look at adding them to familiar meals like soups and stews to add nutritional value and make meat go further.

And we’ll answer the question people don’t always ask out loud: how do you eat more beans and lentils without regretting it later?

The fermented foods and beans and lentils workshops work brilliantly together. If you want to feel more connected to your food, build your confidence and use more real ingredients, they’re a great place to start.

If you’re looking for fresh inspiration, useful skills or simply the company of people who love this stuff too, come and join me. Feeding yourself well is genuinely one of the best forms of self-care I can think of—and I’d love to see you at one, or several, of these events.
